Amadeus: the Chamber Choir

Previous concerts

On Saturday 2nd April 2022, again in one of our favourite venues – Holy Family, Ince Blundell – we performed Handel’s wonderful Messiah, with four great soloists, and the fantastic Liverpool Concert Orchestra.

We had a very successful concert in October, which raised over £2000 for St Peter’s Project in Uganda; and we were delighted to be able to put on two more concerts before the end of 2021.

The concert on 10th December at CHET (Crosby Hall Educational Trust) took place in the charming Barn, and with the aroma of mulled wine and mince pies drifting down from the dining room, made the audience feel that the Christmas season was well and truly with us this year.

The following Friday we were able to return to the lovely church of Holy Family in Ince Blundell for our Christmas Concert in aid of Mary’s Meals. Although the audience couldn’t venture into the Convent this year for the usual refreshments (you’ve guessed it – mulled wine and mince pies), they enjoyed a feast of seasonal music! With match funding, and Mary’s Meals own Double the Love support, the concert allowed more than £4,700 to be donated to our favourite charity.

In terms of other recent concerts, the word recent is a relative term … prior to October 2021, our previous two concerts were late 2019 and early 2020. Nonetheless they were very successful – musically and financially for the charity.

December 2019 – Carols at Ince Blundell
Our annual Christmas Concert in Holy Family raised well over £3,000 for Mary’s Meals

February 2020 – St Peter’s Church, Formby
Mozart’s sublime Requiem and Rutter’s effervescent Feel the Spirit raised another £1k+ for Mary’s Meals

December 2020
Actually there was another – rather amazing concert. Our first annual Christmas concert not in Ince Blundell, and our first without an audience.
We were fortunate that there was a little window in the government restrictions which seemed to allow us to meet and record a performance. We didn’t really rehearse (!), but sang through pieces and then filmed/recorded them. It was the all pieced together into a concert posted on YouTube
Thanks to contributions via a JustGiving page, and Gift Aid, we were able to raise more than £8,000 for our usual Christmas concert charity: Mary’s Meals.
