David Holroyd | Amadeus: the Chamber Choir
David Holroyd

is Director of Music at Merchant Taylors’ School in Crosby. He studied organ and choir-training at the Royal Northern College of Music with Ronald Frost, Gillian Weir and John Bertalot.

David’s musical career began at the age of 7 as a choirboy at St Hilary’s Church Wallasey, where in due course he became Organist and Choirmaster. He spent time as Assistant Organist at Chester Cathedral before moving to Merchant Taylors’ School. As well as conducting Amadeus, he also conducts Birkenhead Choral Society, and Formby Choral Society, and still plays the organ at St Peter's Church, Formby
Part time, post-grad studies at LJMU led to a PGCert focusing on “Advanced Practices in Education”. And finally, he managed to get himself in gear to complete the research, and a couple of years ago gained his MA from LJMU. Recently he was awarded Fellowship of the Guild of Musicians and Singers.
In the summer of 2019 he took "time realignment" (his words), by retiring (early!) from Merchant Taylors.
